Searching for lumps is really easy and best done in the bath or shower when you are naked and can easily do it. Starting at the top, put your hands on your head with the fingers meeting in the middle, now slowly feel around your head as if you are shampooing your hair. Feel for any unusual lumps, move down to the area of the side of the face and under the jaw bone, with one finger only feel under the jaw right up to the chin, pressing gently to feel the actual flesh beneath the skin, now do the neck , don`t forget the back and front. If you find a lump DON`T ignore, it report it to your doctor, it won`t go away on its own and it will most likely be a non malignant lump anyway. That is a lump that isn`t cancerous.                                              

Now the shoulders,again pressing gently but firmly. Next feel the arm pits you will need to press harder here to get right in. Next , we are going to investigate the breast area, Men please note, you can get tumours here as well, cup the Breast to feel the outer area, then take each breast and gently, but firmly feel all around them for any unusual lumps.

Many lumps found in the breast, turn out to be cysts or non-malignant growths, which are NOT cancerous, so don`t be alarmed if you find a lump, it is very common to have one of these types of lumps in the breast. However, you must not dismiss it as one of these straight away, you must get it looked at, the earlier the better, and don`t forget a breast screening is FREE. a few moments spent getting a screening, may well add many years onto your life.                                                                            

Next we are going to look at the stomach area so continue to feel firmly but gently all around this area, to the left of the lower stomach is the spleen, which is joined to the lymph system and prone to tumours. Men, please also feel all around your testicular area, and especially the testicals themselves, testicular cancer is more common than you think. lastly, feel all down the legs and the feet. That is how easy it is to inspect yourselves. It will help to prevent the advancement of any cancer, if on finding a lump you immediatley see your G.P. I did and it saved my life 3 times.............. INSPECT LIKE THIS EVERY WEEK. You never know it just may save your life one day. I can guarantee that not only will it make you safer, but your children and grandchildren will all be the happier too!
